Today, we are talking about the newest mid-range smartphone Samsung Galaxy A53 5G. The A53 5g is part of the latest generation of A-series smartphones from Samsung.
It has a huge screen, a large battery, a slew of cameras, and a variety of colors to appeal to people looking for a mid-range smartphone. The Galaxy A53 not only has a lot of features, but it also has an attractive appearance that gives it a premium feel.
While it may not be as appealing as Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S22 Ultra or as futuristic as the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3, the A-series is quite popular. According to projections citing Counterpoint Research, Samsung’s A-series would account for 58 percent of the company’s total smartphone sales in 2021.
So before we go dig deep into the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G Preview, let’s take a look at the specifications.

Design
The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is a big phone, with a 6.5-inch display that pushes the proportions to 159.9 x 74.7 x 8.1mm, making it a big presence in the hand while yet being slimmer than prior generations.
While the Galaxy A53’s size makes it difficult to reach every part of the screen with your thumb while using one hand – and those with smaller palms will definitely struggle if they don’t use both – it was surprisingly light.
With a weight of 189g, it wasn’t as heavy as the Google Pixel 6 (207g) we carried with us, which helped us cope with its size. On the right side, the volume rocker and power/lock key are conveniently located beneath your finger (or thumb), while the SIM tray, USB-C port, and speaker (one of the A53’s two) are located on the phone’s base.
Although the back is plainly plastic, Samsung has tried a premium appearance and feel with a shiny silver band that wraps around the perimeter of the smartphone. It’s not a major flaw, since the phone feels strong and well-made overall.
The camera bump is even carved into the body, similar to what we see on the Oppo Find X5 Pro, however, the camera hump on the Galaxy A53 5g is just slightly lifted from the phone’s surface.
The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 on the front, and the phone has an IP67 dust and water resistance rating, meaning it can withstand a 30-minute immersion in water up to a depth of one meter.
There are four colour options, and we chose the modest yet beautiful blue. We also had the opportunity to inspect the black, white, and peach finishes, the latter of which we found most appealing.
Display
As we’ve already mentioned, the Samsung galaxy A53 5g has a larger 6.5-inch display that stretches across much of the front of the phone, although there is a slightly wider bezel along its bottom edge – a subtle hint that this isn’t a top-tier S series handset where Samsung keeps bezels to an absolute minimum.
It still looks good, however, and the only blemish on the front is the compact selfie camera which sits within the screen itself – a design Samsung calls ‘Infinity-O’ but one which is often referred to as a hole punch, or punch-hole display.
You don’t get a flagship resolution, but the Full HD+ offering here will more than suffice for most users, plus Samsung has introduced a more premium feature to the A53 – a 120Hz refresh rate.
This keeps things on-screen running smoothly, whether you’re scrolling social or playing the latest game, the display on the Galaxy A53 should be able to keep up with the action without any juddering.
It’s a SuperAMOLED panel, which means colors are punchy, and the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G also boasts up to 800 nits of brightness, which should make it viewable even in sunlight.
There’s a fingerprint scanner embedded within the display as well, which is easy enough to hit with your thumb.
Performance and Battery
In 2022, the Galaxy A53 5G takes a step forward, with upgraded Exynos processors. The first time a 5nm architecture has been employed in the Galaxy A series, according to Samsung, indicating that it isn’t being held back. It should be more energy-efficient, able to fulfill its functions while using less energy.
The Galaxy A52 jumped and bounced through the Snapdragon 720G, 750G, and 778G processors in 2021. (Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G, Galaxy A52s respectively). Before this, the Galaxy A51 in 2020 had Exynos technology, so there’s been a lot of back and forth in this category of gadget.
Samsung claims that the new Exynos 1280 outperforms existing hardware for this class of device, implying that this phone would be faster while maintaining 5G connection. It comes with 6GB of RAM, but you can use up to an extra 6GB of virtual RAM by allocating some of the storage as virtual RAM.
There’s 128GB of storage (additional choices may exist, but Samsung hasn’t verified them with us) and support for microSD cards up to 1TB, which is a significant benefit of picking a mid-range phone.
A 5000mAh battery is included, with the capability for 25W charging. That’s a large capacity, and it’s up from the previous model of this phone. We believe that this will result in excellent battery life in everyday use – Samsung claims two days of usage.
The phone will run Android 12 with Samsung’s One UI on top, with 4 years of OS upgrades and 5 years of security patches promised.
Camera
Gone are the days where mid-range phones would pack one, maybe two cameras without much fanfare – these days photography features need to be plentiful if you want to compete, and the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G doesn’t disappoint.
A 64MP primary camera is accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide, 5MP bokeh (for blurred background pictures), and 5MP macro (for close-up snaps) array of snappers in the aforementioned smooth, slightly raised camera hump on the phone’s back.
There are a lot of options for aspiring mobile photographers, and that’s before we even get into the camera app’s other capabilities.
The Galaxy A53’s night mode has been upgraded, and it will shoot 12 shots in one for better low-light results. The primary camera of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G also features OIS, which is a great feature.
However, it lacks digital zoom, which is something I consider to be a drawback.
Final Words
The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is a feature-rich mid-range phone with enough going for it to compete in a competitive segment of the market.
However, there are a few things that Samsung might improve or include, such as a charger in the box and an earphone port.
