Samsung has been releasing the Fan Edition or “FE” variant of its Galaxy S series for two years and we were hoping the same with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE this year. However, a new report now suggests that this may not be the case as Samsung is planning to drop its launch plans.
No Galaxy S22 FE This Year?
According to a rumour by The Elec, Samsung will instead introduce the Galaxy S22 Ultra rather than the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE. The continuous chip scarcity problem is the reason the business wants to concentrate on its higher-end S22 Ultra. Recall that the same material first surfaced in June. However, the cause was different!
The Samsung Galaxy S22 FE is rumoured to have been designed by Samsung with a 3 million unit production goal and the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU as the other S22 versions. The business wants to build more Galaxy S22 Ultras, but the chip scarcity prevents it from concentrating on an other product. The phone is thought to be more lucrative.
According to the source, the business sold more than its projected 10 million Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra devices for the full year, selling an estimated 10 million units in the first half of 2022. It makes more sense for Samsung to assign the chip to the S22 Ultra as a result.
To recall, the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE was also expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC but maybe, it won’t be the case.
However, this doesn’t mean that Samsung is fully scrapping off the Galaxy FE phones. It is still believed to launch the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE next year and for this, 3 million units are expected to be manufactured. As for the other Galaxy S23 models, the company is expected to produce 8.5 million units for the Galaxy S23, 6.5 million units for the Galaxy S23+, and 13 million units for the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Since these details don’t come from an official source, it’s best to take them with a grain of salt and wait for what Samsung has to say about this. We will let you know more about this once we get some more information. So, stay tuned and let us how you would feel if Samsung doesn’t launch the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE in the comments below.
